Amethyst, the purple-violet variety of quartz has been revered and used by many different cultures. A multitude ' of symbolisms and spiritual powers have been ascribed to it throughout millennia. Although there were a number of sources attributed to amethyst in written records, it wasn't as common as today. These old sources were located in today's Egypt, Czech Republic, Saxony and France. Due to its beautiful color and less supply, it was an important gemstone.
