TJF trend book 2011+

Author : Paola De Luca, creative director

The word "crisis" is the most commonly used to represent this historic moment as, despite rapid technological advances, for some it never seems to end. The election of President Barack Obama is not the solution to the world’s problems and the economy, but it is certainly the emblem of a new awareness. We can change! During historical crises, natural selection symbolises those who succeed in adopting ideas to pursue new opportunities. Those who fail to do so are afraid of breaking away from apathy and the habits of having acted in a certain way. The world is changing and transforming itself, like evolving matter. The democratisation of well-being in the Westernised cultures has brought numerous benefits, as well as destruction. The culture of waste, of using and throwing away, has triggered a lowering of quality from every point of view. This movement of parameters has lowered the objectives of the market, neglecting: competence, research, experimentation and creativity. Fortunately the human race can react to save itself and when things go badly, Darwinism kicks in, ensuring the quest for the survival of the species brings great new unexpected leaps forward (Quantum physics.) The fall of old ideologies has led to the election of the first black President in the leading powers and represents the desire for racial harmony as the only solution for the future….. 4 Megatrends identified by the TJF Group Observatory for the 2011 seasons: 1_ GENERATION HOPE : Generation Hope or Generation Obama is an expression of feeling of a Westernised society aware that radical change is necessary. From the economic crisis, armed conflicts, ideological wars and environmental emergency etc ... emerges a renewed faith in the future and a consciousness of building new ideological bases for the new generations. 2_ EXOTIC WONDER : The adjective Exotic synthesises the concept of "fascinating while unknown". In this new epoch the meaning of exotic or exoticism takes on new significance and facets with influences that span from traditional tribal origins to virtual tribes. "Blends" are born with strong traditional tribal references that are mixed with the new languages of the sub-culture of the web. A new post-virtual exoticism emerges that is not linked to a specific culture, ethnicity and territory, but to a mental state. (See Jumpers.) 3_ VINTAGE ETERNAL : The intensity of modern life makes everything obsolete very quickly. The concept of Vintage emerges in the world of clothing as an elegant adjective to replace the term "old", associated with second hand clothing. Vintage became a stylistic trend, covering a period from 1920 to the 1980s. Vintage Eternal is the evolution of this phenomenon, concentrated from the 1990s to the early 2000s, with a strong emphasis on industrial fashion design. 4_ SYNCHRONICITY : Art and experimentation have become a focus of interest for the new generations and for others. Art as a pure and emotional expression which communicates the state of our mind and our individuality. Colour, music, video, lights, elements that can convey our real mental states and the hallucinations of the generation Web. Synchromism, a term used to denote an American art movement begun around 1912, picks up the search for an aesthetic and cultural harmony associated with music.
